    Thanks
It will just go down to preferrence. I'm using both of them and each has it's own pros and cons...But I like GNOME better....he..he...he..

Re: Anyone else really dislike Gnome?

KDE is way too much, Gnome is way too little. Somewhere in between would be just right I reckon. And I have to agree with Stormy Eyes, metacity is a crime against humanity!

What I don't understand is why both have not tried something new, the task bar menu button thingy is so old, surely there are better ways of doing things? At least on windows they tried with XP, not so good I admit but at least they tried something.

Gnome just seems to want to rip everything out and take us back 20 years, I really wish they would start to innovate, I don't call spatial innovation.

Perhaps it takes someone with some radical ideas to present them properly and then maybe someone can code them up, but I've always felt the Gnome Devs were not interested in outside ideas, just look at the fuss over a menu editor and how long it took them to put a clipboard manager in or even the lameness of metacity.

All in all, it does give you the things you need to get stuff done, but jeez, it's 2005 and some parts of it are just so 1970

Look at what Apple's done with OSX, they moved forward and did some pretty amazing stuff and now everyone's going gaga over it. I realise some people don't like it, but a hell of a lot do and are now calling for it to be released from its Mac shackles. I've never ever heard a windows user rave like this about Gnome or KDE.

So when you have people say stuff like this

looks better and is more functional than this,

and Epiphany is more usable than this

I don't hold out much hope of Gnome taking away any thunder from anyone.

It will be interesting to see what Gnome 3 and KDE 4 have to show off, we already know the puss that is vista and if Apple ever release OSX from its mac shackles, then it will be an entirely different ball game IMHO.

These are just some of my thoughts, I hope I haven't offended anyone, I wasn't trying to

Because most don't know it exists. We have a testimonial forum here to prove SOME people are impressed when they come in contact with Ubuntu.

I started using linux not long ago, and I really like the simplicity of Gnome .But then I felt like there was something missing, so I tried KDE, and I love the "brighter" and consistent UI of K apps, but the desktop is cluttered. Now I'm a bit lost, don't know which one to choose to modify it to my liking. :S

    Neither. I use Openbox.
My sole duty is to my own happiness and well-being. I recognize no other.
