Need help! Just installed IPBlock and I can't get it to update.
Im having the same problem here. I just installed 10.04 and got ipblock from the repos but it wont update or start. I wonder of bluetack is down and that may be the problem for updating. Not sure why it wont start though.
Any help appreciated.
Heres the error when i try to start with ipblock -s
Code:iplist[1886]: error: can't find level1.gz ipblock[1872]: error: failed to start, cleaning up
It appears the failure to start is because there are no .gz files containing ip ranges for it use - probabbly due to the failure to update.
Im going to try to obtain/create them from other sources and see if I cant get it running.
In the meantime any help is welcome.
First off, thank you uljanow,
I'm a Ubuntu newbie but after reading this thread can appreciate the work and benefit you've provided with iplist. Another reason I'm happy to be using Ubuntu and confident in Linux becoming more influential with helpful programmers like yourself. Super easy to install.
Few questions when you have time:
1) I'd like to start using bit torrents ala Deluge, Vuze, Transmission, Ktorrent, etc.. but was worried when I saw this on Youtube:
How Anti-P2P lawsuit evidence is collected.

Does IPBlock protect against this?
2) Also, earlier in the thread, either you or someone had mentioned to try visiting MPAA.org and microsoft.com to see what happened. I got the impression that you would be blocked since they collect info. But I tried visiting those two sites and nothing special happened. Has something changed in the last few years or are my settings too lax?
Thanks in advance
Best thing is to use a VPN service so you're connecting through another country, e.g. Sweden.
A bit of a pain, but probably worth it if you download a lot.

This is my favorite Linux ipblocker out of all of the others that I've tried, but I keep running into this problem. Its happened to me twice now on two different machines.
Things work perfectly for 2-3 months, then out of the blue I get,
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and I get the same thing. Just so strange that it works so well until a certain amount of time has passed. Anyone have a fix for this? I really want to keep using ipblock, its the only one that I really like.ipblock[4064]:error updating *list name
