whats the sudo code for un-installation?
whats the sudo code for un-installation?
That's what she said.
Literally.
for some reason in the programs tray icon it shows a lower number of ip ranges than the lists I loaded have(and I know there should be more ip ranges) is this simply a GUI glitch or am I not receiving protection from certain ip ranges because the program has a default limit???
iplist automatically merges ranges. If you set the verbose option your logs /var/log/syslog should contain lines like "iplist[XX]: info: 12396 ip ranges inserted". However it will not give a notice if a range is merged. The number of IP ranges doesn't say how many IPs are actually blocked.
when ubuntu starts, iplist is running, but when i start ipblock gui, it shows it's disabled... :s
running "ps aux | grep ipblock" both in user and root shows iplist IS running, but the gui shows it is NOT enabled..
please help me out here?
Have you installed other firewall applications ? Probably another app is removing the iptables rules inserted by ipblock.
ipblock needs to be started after other firewall application. Normally it's compatible with ufw, shorewall, etc. which start at runlevel < 99.
I actually solved this already... although I have no clue as to what it is I've done to solve it. I was fooling around a bit and apparently somewhere along the way I've done something to make things work proper!
Thanks anyway for the reply
If it is a firewall (most times it is ufw) this problem will arise again, whenever you change settings in ufw, because ufw will then purge iplists iptables rules.
