Clicking on hide in the context menu of the IPblock icon in the system tray minimizes the GUI.

I think this is my problem, IPblock never appears in my system tray...

This feature requires the latest openjdk-6-jre or sun-java6-jre which are in Intrepid. Alternatively disabling compiz should make it appear in the system tray.

This looks like something I've been wanting

Not wanting to be a party pooper but I'm very new to Linux and I've heard a few precautionary words of wisdom from the admins here.....

    so.....

How can we know this program doesn't have a malicious backend attached ?

Just curious and again, a totally linux noobie question

Since I do have the jre stuff the reason should be compiz related. But I would prefer having compiz than having IPblock at sys tray.
    Thanks for the suggestions anyway!

Besides the tray icon issue i do really like IPblock and think it is a life saver!

    Re: HOWTO: Graphical IP Blocker

I can't get the keys to authenticate the package.

    Code:
    griz@griz-laptop:~$ gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv 39456311108B243F
gpg: requesting key 108B243F from hkp server wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect to host
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
    gpg: Total number processed: 0
    Any suggestions?

You could save the pub key to a file and import it through System->Administration->Software Sources->Authentication->Import Key-file.
