Why? FOSS promotes capitalism in the sense that anybody can provide support for it (or code new features), rather that just the original author. This means that if the author wants to make money providing support, he/she needs to do a better job than the other people who want to make a living that way.

Capitalism works, no denying it but there are better systems out there that are fairer. Anyway this isn't the thread for this topic.

In theory yes. When you put human nature into the equation, no.
    Hmmm...

Just like Communism and/or Socialism, then?
If you can't be bothered writing coherently, I can't be bothered reading your post.

Communism yes but not socialism because that would be like saying conservatism is Nazism.

    I'm a socialist anyway
    Hmmm...

Precisely. In practice, capitalism has been the "best" regime mankind has experienced so far. In the words of Winston Churchill, Capitalism is the worst regime of all, except for all the others.

Not to start a political discussion, but the socialist regimes of the twentieth century weren't that different from nazism, they all turned out totalitarian in the end.

Anyway, the distinction between socialism and communism is big and important. If I thought communism had any scrap of a chance of working in real life, I'd be a communist, but unfortunately, I am a strong believer in the darkness of Man's heart.

    Very true.

Which is why capitalism is our safest bet.
    Hmmm...
