Re: HOW TO: install Enemy Territory

I downloaded and installed the drivers ( For all you Intel users, it's 10x easier to download Intel drivers designed for SuSe, and use Alien to convert the .rpm packaged into a .deb ), and got ET working - Slightly.

When I started the game, it was 600x480 in a 1024x768 screen, in the bottom left hand side: the rest was black. Then, when I tried to start a map, it said:
    Cannot write to hunkusage.dat
So, I followed the instructions posted somewhere on this forum:
    sudo chown -R user:user ~/.etwolf/
    .
Now, whenever I start the game, I can hear the sound, but, can't see anything, other than black. I have to press ` and type "exit" to get back to the menu.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: HOW TO: install Enemy Territory

Everything's now good in the hood, except:

I've only a 64MB graphics card, and so I'm restricted to 800x600 resolution if I want to play, which, in Windows, was fine, I could set it to that, and It'd be a little more blocky, but that was okay..

With Ubuntu, I set it to 800x600 and it goes, as I've described, into an 800x600 size corner, with the rest of the screen being black, although it's on the full screen setting. I want to know how to get ET to work at 800x600, actually full screen. Please, can anyone help?

Re: HOW TO: install Enemy Territory

Finally I've got ET working with sound. Great!

But, unfortunately, another problem is bugging me now. Whenever I have played for a while, ET crashes and I return to the desktop. It seems to be happening at random.
Here is the output I get:

Re: HOW TO: install Enemy Territory

I have shared video ram. I don't have nvidia or ati. It's like sis or something. Anyways. I installed enemy territory and it was running and everything but it is so choppy on the opening screen and the options screen that I can barely do anything. I move the mouse and there is about 5 second delay before it is moved on the screen. What can I do?
I have enemy territory installed on this computer on my winxp partition and it works great, so I don't see why I wouldn't be able to run it linux..

    Thanks.

Find proper drivers with 3d hardware acceleration for your card and install them. That should take care of your problem (provided such drivers exist).

Thank you for your help! I have a sis graphics card or whatever but I don't really know where to start looking for drivers for it for linux. Can you give me any suggestions?
