    Smile Native SPSS for Linux

    Hi there!

    I found a lot of posts out there regarding running SPSS on Linux distros. The regular answers to this problem are:

    1) running through Wine, witch can be troublesome;
    2) using native software such as R-Project, witch has a significant learning curve.

    Well, today I was informed that from version 16.0, SPSS will have a Linux version. It will still be expensive as hell, but, what the heck, most of us use the University-paid student versions

    Thought you would like to know.

    Happy statistics to all!

    Ps.: slowly, comercial software companies are starting to be aware of growing Linux communities. Aren't you sad?

    Good news for sure! Strange, though, that there was no version for a UNIX-like system such as Linux up till now considering the origins of SPSS seem to predate both Windows and Apple computers..!

    I'm not sure, I read, from a blog, that the release date is usually around Labor Day, but has not yet been announced.

    Yes...do. It will take a little while, but you will be much better off if you invest the time.
