    Exclamation Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers

I'm looking for the Windows 7 driver for the Lexmark Z615. So far nothing is printed, because the system detects communication problems.

After installing Ubuntu 10.10 my Lexmark MFD didn't work,
and the download page linked on the first post was dangling
(it has been 5 years, after all but I found that searching
    for "<YourPrinterModel> linux" at:
    http://support.lexmark.com/index?pag...gment=DOWNLOAD
takes you to a page that actually works! Except that you have to
sudo (or run as root) the included shell script.

    Anyone can please help?

    thanks
Try the instructions of this other thread , they are for Ubuntu 10.04 (and most probably also work with newer ubuntus)

I have a feeling they will also work for your Lexmark model

    Angry Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers

Okay, I'm a newbie and I'm having some issues getting my lexmark z705 printer to work. I installed the z700 package mentioned below and I get this:Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libstdc++5. What does this mean? I don't know anything about codes, I'm trying ubunto after I had several virus issues with windows, (another story). Windows is all I know, I'm kind of the point and click user. I'm running ubunto 10.10 desktop.

I'm still struggling with my lexmark z705 printer. I finally got the driver package to install, but still can't get it to print, when I view the attributes of the print job I saw this:

job printer state message /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoz700 failed

I did a little research and followed this suggested command:
    ldd /user/lib/cups/filter/rastertoz700

    In response I got this:

    Code:
    libc.so.6 => /lib32/libc.so.6 (0xf74c9000)

Someone please interpret and suggest solution. Thank You

Well hallelujah it works, I'm not sure if the download is fixed or if there is a new update but here is what I did to get it to work, I fought Windows for 13hrs for it to create a decent boot disc, everytime I tried to download the ubunto software, I got the blue screen of death. I was running ubunto with windows, but once I was able to get the boot disc, I installed ubunto desktop 10.10 as the only operating system. I ran all the updates and then installed the driver located in the link below and now my lexmark z705 printer works.

    Bye Bye Microsoft windows!

    Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers

I'm very glad to hear that.
Not only because you solved your problem and I don't have to figure out what the problem was, but also because it means the package still works on Ubuntu 10.10! (it wasn't modified since 2010-03-04 and is still the one I made)

And thanks for also posting your solution here.

I don't remember you mentioning that you were using Wubi (Ubuntu on Windows) anywhere before.
That's a very important detail, since it is not the standard way of running Ubuntu.
So always mention it in the future in case you try Wubi again.

And there's also IRC for realtime help:

I wanted to add that if you have more difficulty than I did making a boot disc, you can always have one sent to you if you can wait for snail mail. It's on the site somewhere.

    Re: HOWTO: Lexmark Printers

    Hi,

Just upgraded my dauthers laptop from kramic to lucid (i386) but now I have difficulties to find libstdc++5 : the link that I followed for installing a Dell A920 = Lexmark X1150 on kramic :

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ha...inters#Lexmark

which contains a reference to the Z600 drivers and which depend on libstdc++5 :

    http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libstdc++5

comes back with an error : two or more packages specified (libstdc++5 jaunty) ??? In fact when moving up the tree one does not find Jaunty any longer : all links for jaunty came back with an error.

I could find it from hardy : libstdc++5_3.3.6-15ubuntu6_i386.deb
but that one throws up an error when trying to install it :

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: gcc-3.3-base (>= 1:3.3.6-15ubuntu6)

Is it a case that a more recent version of libstdc++5 (say linstdc++6) needs to be soft linked to ? Does any one know if this will work with the lexmark.z600-0.4.deb ?

Also the lexmark website (as indicated in one of the earlier posts) does not give a linux version for this model (only Win and MacOS).

    Any help much appreciated ...
