THANK YOU!!!
I couldnt get it to work before (my X1270) and now it prints!!! It diddnt show any output for ./z600, not on Karmic 9.10 anyway. I havent tested scanning yet, but ill post if it works
Also, if in doubt, when you first choose the driver, and it asks to print a test page, the first one diddnt print. It said 'processing' then the printer made a noise and it finished. i sent another test page and it printed!
once again, thank you!
Oh and please also note, on the alien commands, you might want to add sudo at the beginning and --scripts at the end, it gives a warning but it worked this time
eg sudo alien etc.rpm --scripts
Post #561 worked for me as well! Thank you, ShadowMage, and everyone else who helped figure this out!! This totally rocks! And now, my aunt and my mom and the rest of my family won't be so angry at me for replacing Windows with the marvelous excellence that is Ubuntu!
Hi
I am new to linux and took the dive on my notebook I have it up and running very easy much better than windows. My 1 question is there a complete driver set for a lexmark X1150 out there somewhere ? for the scanner & copier & printer, or am I just out of luck
Black hole you're the ubuntu god!!! although this help is very old, the FSTAB mount is the only way I could get my Lexmark Z645 to work. I have been messing around with all the various help forums for three days now. By the way, this fixed my broken pipe error. I'm new to Linux ubuntu 9.10. Since my wife likes windows, I had to install UBUNTU 9.10 on my 32GB usb stick. Thanks again
Still no help.

strange and a bit spooky ...
and as you though i don't get the install.tar.gz created... maybe it's coz that tuto was made in the 60's (joke) and not really appropriate for 64 bits architecture. (don't know actually)
thx a lot for what you've done all of you, and thx for what you could do for me
The tail command returns a certain number of lines from the end of the file.
In this case, the file ends with a tar.gz (imagine a tar.gz attached to a text file).
Since a tar.gz is a compressed file, it is not clear text.
That's why you get that result.
The idea is to redirect the output into "install.tar.gz" to create a tar.gz ("tail" only outputs data in the terminal, but does not store it in a file).
You should have run:
Code:tail -n +143 z600cups-1.0-1.gz.sh > install.tar.gzThe driver is a 32-bit binary.maybe it's coz that tuto was made in the 60's (joke) and not really appropriate for 64 bits architecture. (don't know actually)
That's why you need to install the 32-bit versions of libstdc++5 as specified here.
I have no idea how to solve your printing problem unfortunately.
It might be because the driver is for the Lexmark Z6xx series and not Lexmark P707.
