OK, I know I am new to this but I can't figure out how to do all of these things you are talking about doing. I try to add them into the termial and they keep coming up saying that the file isnt found. I could only get the first line entered before the file not found message came up so I stopped.

You have already completed the first 2 steps of the tutorial, so you can:

cd lexmark

then continue with step 3....
tar -xvzf CJLZ600LE-CUPS-1.0-1.TAR.gz

What a mess this is what i got now

That means you don't have the file (or it has a different name).

either download the file and move it to that folder, or use the actual name of it.

type ls to list the files
if the file has a different name you can use tar -xvzf C*.gz

So, I've been trying to use this method to make a Dell AIO 924 printer compatible with Ubuntu 8.10. I have been unsuccessful.

I downloaded the Z600 driver from Lexmark and followed the instructions listed earlier. I can choose the Z600 the driver option for my printer when setting up my printer, but it there is no response from my printer when attempting to print a document.

I'm relatively new to Linux, so I'm not the most fluent when it comes to the programming. Are there any other workarounds available for the Dell AIO 924 and Ubuntu 8.10? Thanks for your help.

If you have 1GB RAM and a windows install disc you can use a virtual machine to print.
