    Poker stars

    Hi,

I often play at pokerstars.com, but I don't get it installed on edgy. It works fine in Windows though. I presume it is heavily secured to protect high stake gamblers (I only play pennies). I think it should work on Unix however, since otherwise all Macs won't work either. Any tips?

    Thanks alot,

    Thomas

It only seems to have a windows client.

Windows software does not run natively under Linux.

You may want to try it using WINE.

I seem to recall reading some posts where people have got PokerStars running under Wine - have you tried a search of the forums?

I run EmpirePoker under Wine and that's worked nicely under Edgy and Feisty - good luck!

Now that they even have a Mac client, I sent them a mail. Time for them to show that they want me as a customer

Pokerstars works perfectly for me under Wine. The only think that doesn't is resising the table. But I can do without.

    First-
Pokerstars has MAC dmg for their install now.
    Second-
    Ubuntu is no Unix.
    Third-
    Use synaptic to install 'wine'.
    In terminal winefile -? .
When in there navigate to where pokerstars exe was downloaded
and dobleclickit-5 seconds later you'll be wasting you dimes with gusto.
    LMAO - I'm doing it right now.LOL

    Re: Poker stars

i use pokerstars with wine on several different distros.

The set up I use now is hardy 8.04 64bit
    Wine 9.54
Wine config to XP or 2000
To resize windows the easiest is to use wine virutual desktop.

The best for me to make it work most like XP and resize windows is to configure wine not to integrate with desktop. Now you can resize windows all you want. Only problem is no other programs can run on top of the windows. I just minimize poker window to get to my linux windows. Also if you config wine this way your poker tables will follow you from desktop to desktop. Or if you are waiting to get into a game I use another desktop to use linux and watch the lobby in pokerstars on my second monitor its great.
    Hope this helps.

PS newer versions of wine dont work as well with pokerstars but they do work
