What sound card is in the laptop? Also, post the output of "lspci" and "lsmod".

Also check that your volumes aren't muted. Right click on volume icon in panel and choose 'Open Volume Control'

Re: no sound!
To get alsa 1.0.9 - just change to Breezy (Unofficial Ubuntu 5.04 Starter Guide) - install as usual - change back to Hoary.
Good luck |

Re: no sound!
I kinda feel uncomfortable upgrading to Breezy, as I find this warning on the Unofficial Ubuntu Starter Guide: Warning! This is still in it's development stage. Only use it for experimental purposes. Doing this might break your entire system.
Is there anything else that I could try before doing this? Or will alsa 1.0.9 fix all my problems? |
