It's in the 64-bit repos. Just install it that way.
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian libsdl1.2debian-alsa
You may also need to install libsdl1.2-dev

But they're all in the repos, and you should never go downloading and installing files if they're already in the repos.

    Try this
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
to install the 32-bit libs. Your 64-bit OS needs them to run 32-bit apps. If that is already installed, I don't know what to tell you.

    There is still hope:
http://www.bloodfrontier.com/Main_Page (they don't seem to mention single player anymore, but I remember it starting out as a single player game project)
http://zymotic.org/ (They had a nice page with concept art previously, but I can't find it anymore)

And not really an FPS, but it might be a good stealth game.

    Full single-player games:

But the graphics are old. (wolfenstein-3D like)

Otherwise, there are a few commercial single player games available of course.
