    Gaussian on Ubuntu 6.10

I recently set up a cluster for my professor, running Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) on the master and nodes. He told me he would like Gaussian installed on it; however, after talking to others in the computational chemistry department at my university, I was informed that Gaussian complains that the pthread library is missing a function. Apparently this function was removed from Ubuntu. I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed and run Gaussian on Ubuntu.
    Thank you
    - Igor
