Hardest Game Ever Made

Let's start a new thread... What's the hardest/toughest game you ever played for any system (e.g. video game consoles, Windows, Linux, Commodore 64, Apple ][, etc.)?

Battletoads for NES is the hardest game ever.

Anyway, I still love that game. Awesome graphics and music. I remember playing it at sleep overs and trying so hard just to get to stage 5 (take the warp from turbo tunnel). I still have my cartridge too... When I feel the need I fire it up in mednafen (even with save states the game is just well... it's hard!)

Agreed. You can get it in the US in the "Super Mario All-Stars" collection. It's called "The Lost Levels"

The ninja gaiden trilogy on SNES!

And maybe the Myst series, altough I never really had enough time to finish it.
I just tried out the first one a little bit and it seemed quite hard.

My faulty memory can not remember all the games I've ever played, but one of the hardest was <i>Capital Punishment</i>, an old Amiga "martial arts" game. Wonder if it works using UAE...

Gitaroo Man.

Normal difficulty ain't easy, then you unlock two separate ways of making it 20 times harder! Also the soundtrack is awesome.

I read that the level of difficulty on Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for SNES is "easier" than the original Ninja Gaiden series on the NES version.

Also, Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES punched the living daylights out of me!

Still to this day I would have to say McKids on the NES.

The game took forever to complete, and when I was younger was probably my first real gaming addiction after Super Mario Brother.
