S3 Unichrome Pro VGA and googleearth

Hi,
I have a laptop with the graphic card S3 Unichrome Pro VGA. Running Feisty and the "via" driver I get direct rendering working and over 560 FPS running glxgears. So, reasonably for a cheap laptop.
However, trying to run Googleearth (both the .deb in medibuntu repo or the .bin from google page) produce weird results. First, the program open fine, without error messages but the map screen is black. Googling around I found a post saying that someone get it working switching to full screen (using the F11 key, not program menu) a couple times, so I try it and partially work. I get only part of the map display and can move, zoom and all the other functions, but only part of the map screen is shown (see the snapshoot attached).
In the Googleearth forum it is said that for this card we need to switch to DirectX, but what we should do in Linux?
Any suggestion/solution out there?
Thanks!
