    The Ubuntu uptime record thread

The title says it all, and someone has to start. Anyone better? Shouldn`t be that hard.

    top - 21:27:09 up 6 days, 23:23, 3 users, load average: 0.27, 0.16, 0.11
    Tasks: 96 total, 1 running, 95 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
    Cpu(s): 10.0% us, 0.0% sy, 0.0% ni, 87.0% id, 2.0% wa, 0.3% hi, 0.7% si
    Mem: 515940k total, 502972k used, 12968k free, 9252k buffers
    Swap: 522072k total, 141192k used, 380880k free, 213832k cached
Uptime like that under Windows XP was unrealistic on my system. It would crawl after three days. After a week with Ubuntu and no restarts, the system is still snappy.

Re: The Ubuntu uptime record thread

Holy hell you can get up times like this from Linux? I really had no idea. I thought I was doing something special 2 nights ago when I left my machine on overnight and it did not skip a beat. I will really have to test it out now. My xp would sputter to a screeching halt if I left it on overnight trying to do some things. Hell it would sputter and stall when I would play some intensive games. The whole restarting thing every couple of hours was a bit retarded I though anyway. I will start the marathon Linux run tonight.....

My file server is on all the time and can go for months on end without being rebooted, and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of guys on this forum who can give the same sort of testimony.

It's the main server at work. I keep thinking it must need more memory, but it's doing just fine
