Nerolinux 3 with its nice gtk2 interface is now identical to the windows burning rom 7.

It is available here:

ftp://ftp1.usw.nero.com/software/NeroLINUX/

ftp://ftp1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner...0-beta-x86.deb

Edit: now also supports Blue ray, HD-DVD, etc...

Re: Nerolinux 3.0.0.0 beta is out

My old windows serial is still working

Sure I also prefer open source, but nerolinux 3 now supports the same engine & features as the windows burning rom 7, so feature wise (Blue ray & HD-DVD support, overburning, drives advanced features support, etc...) its the best burner on linux.

Re: Nerolinux 3.0.0.0 beta is out

In the nero forums, it was specifically pointed out that since this is a beta, a valid license key was included in the download. Once it leaves beta, it was suggested that a new key would be needed. If you have one from version 7 though, you might be ok. Mine is from version 6, so I would probably have to buy a new key. I won't do that since the latest version of k3b seems to be working with my burners again. (I had trouble with older versions of cdrecord)

Thanks for the heads-up. Nero 3 installed on my computer without a hitch and seems to work well. The following are from the release notes:

Nero Linux is able to burn the following formats:

* Data CDs and DVDs (using ISO9660, UDF and UDF/ISO9660 Bridge)

* Data HD DVDs and Blu-Ray discs (UDF)

* Bootable CDs/DVDs using the El-Torito standard

* Audio CDs from various audio formats

* Mixed-Mode CDs and Enhanced CDs (CD EXTRA)

* Disc Images (ISO, NRG and Cue Sheets)

* DVD-Video and miniDVD

* Multisession discs

Re: Nerolinux 3.0.0.0 beta is out

Downloaded it yesterday and did a quick look at it last night. I tried to use my old key but it wouldn't work. Maybe it will when the final comes out. It looks pretty good but I would have a hard time buying it if we could get open source to do the same. Then again it would help to support anyone who puts out linux apps.
Eddie

What I downloaded was the beta version.

Re: Nerolinux 3.0.0.0 beta is out

The build on nero.com is the final release. My old nerolinux key didn't work anymore, I had to use another key. You can also install it as a trial verion for 30 days if you have no key. When I tried this it didn't seem to work when I started it as a user. If this happens to you, start it with "sudo nero" the trial key appears automatically. You can then copy it, close nero, and restart it as a user, and then past the key.
