Kernel patch to enable htc smartphone dialup

Fedora is the only distro which currently supports using my HTC 2125 as a tethered modem. I found this patch seems to be the answer
-gregkh-usb-usb-ipaq-add-htc-modem-support.patch.
How can I add this to an Ubuntu kernel?
