Adobe InDesign wont finish loading
Successfully installed Photoshop 7 under Crossover Standard this morning. Everything works fine. Now trying to get InDesign to work. Managed to install the ap, but, during startup, it stalls with a message "waiting for late initializers". Wonder what that means (some plug-in, no doubt), and also wondering how to work around that problem.
When it stalls, the only way to escape is to hard boot the computer using the power switch. Ctr-Alt-BS will blank the screen, but Ubuntu will not reload. Curious. Happy to get PS7 working, but I don't feel that is any accomplishment of great note, since Crossover supports it, so one would expect it to work. Thanks for any input. Caruso |

Re: Adobe InDesign wont finish loading
A version number would be helpful.
Are you using WINE or CrossOver? Have you checked WINE's Application Database pages: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=755 Or the pages for crossover compatibilty? The whole "me too" reply does nothing but bump your post count imho. Be specific when asking about help.

I am not aware of anyone who had successfully setup CS2 in Ubuntu, and no version of photoshop beyond version 7. I have checked Codeweaver's compatibility charts, and CS2/PS beyond 7 are not shown to be supported. I haven't checked recently, because I gave up on getting these two aps to work. I had a VMware and also Virtual Box up and running. Everything worked, but none of my peripherals was recognized. I have pretty much given up on Linux or advanced audio/video/graphics/page layout. Native offerings just don't cut it for me, and there remain too many broken components for me to work in virtualization. All that will change one day (perhaps soon). I'll just bide my time and get that portion of my work done in XP. Thanks for the responses. Caruso |

Re: Adobe InDesign wont finish loading
Sorry to tell you but PS 8 runs well under WINE.
Best of luck to you and sorry that you couldn't break the vendor lock-in chain that binds you.

Re: Adobe InDesign wont finish loading
I have ubuntu feisty and under wine 0.9.37 was able to install Photoshop and InDesign CS2. Once installed, Photoshop ran once and I opened a new document and even edited an old photo, just like it was XP. Then it crashed as does not work since. There were error messages that I can't give right now.
InDesign will boot then give me an error message that there is not enough memory. And I have to click the 'ok' to close the app. Frank's corner states he used wine 0.9.38. I'm trying to update, but having some problems with lack of dependencies. Lylex11 |

Re: Adobe InDesign wont finish loading
All of the CS versions don't look like they are supported.
(assuming thats what you have) If you have a windows xp sp2 disc, you could always run the CS series through VirtualBox. not as clean, but at least you don't have to dual boot. |
