You may want to use a ready svg image with colors.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Offi...=UbuntuCoF.svg

In blender, go File>Import>Paths (.svg, .ps...)
Select "Inkscape svg"
Then select the downloaded file; then select "import colors", "separate curves", "clamp height 1", and click "ok".

Then you can extrude, change bevel depth, resol, etc.

Re: Blender ubuntu logo

Can anybody point me in the right direction to a step by step tutorial on creating a logo(ubuntu) in blender. I have seen some fantastic 3d ubuntu logos around and just thought they might very well be done in blender.
One i saw was a glass logo!! in the air with ubuntu logo textured on ground.... Stunning!!
Cheers
Derek

Re: Blender ubuntu logo

Step 1. Go there https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Offi...=UbuntuArtwork and download a file in svg format.

Step 2. Open blender, and import this file
File>Import>Paths>Inkscape svg

Step 3. Press "Editing" button (or press F9) and change extrude, bevel depth, bevresol... To set transparency, etc, press "Shading" button (or press F5).

Step 4. Press "Scene" button (or press F10) and click "RENDER".
