    Mathematically arent they equilelent?

    Half full is 0 + 1/2, which is 1/2.
    Half empty is 1 - 1/2, which is 1/2.

    No difference.

Depends, If someone filled the glass it's half full, and if i have already used some its half empty.

My glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

The glass is half empty and I'm half full, which means I'm going to order another pint.

A pessimist will say that the glass is half empty.
An optimist will say that the glass is half full.

hmm, when i'm out drinking with friends the philosophical parts like this usually don't show up till we've progressed to drinking out of party hats(the plastic kind that don't leak but have a decent volume) i'd just say the hat could do with a top up but for now it'll be good.

yeah, we do usually start pretty early. 9 am has seen us start on a crate of booze more than once.
