What plugins should go in the plugin directory? Does installing pcsx2 create a directory with the plugins in it? If yes, where?

Ok, I did that, and I got a little farther into the build, but now it stops up here:

    Note to OP,

I had to sudo apt-get install libglew-dev as well as what you listed.

There are 32-bit and 64-bit binaries, as well as an SVN repository.

I'm running Edgy, and I managed to compile the SVN, so here is a mini-howto for compilation. This is by no means comprehensive, as who knows what -dev packages you might be missing that I've picked up somewhere along the line.

    I KNOW it requires:

    libbz2-dev
    subversion
    libjpeg62-dev
    build-essential
    libgtk2.0-dev
    libxxf86vm-dev
    x11proto-xf86vidmode-dev
    automake1.9
    Nvidia Cg-Toolkit (available HERE)

The automake version is important, as it will spit all sorts of errors if you have an earlier version.

    It PROBABLY requires:
    libglu1-mesa-dev

I can't actually say it needs that for certain, only that I have it and the INSTALL file says you need OpenGL libs in order to compile.

    -----------

Okay, so let's grab our required things:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install subversion libjpeg62-dev build-essential libgtk2.0-dev libxxf86vm-dev x11proto-xf86vidmode-dev automake1.9 libbz2-dev
    Our maybe required things:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install libglu1-mesa-dev
    The SVN code:

    Code:
    svn co https://pcsx2.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pcsx2 pcsx2
    Aaaand build it!

    Code:
    cd pcsx2
    sh build.sh all
    And hopefully everything should build!

EDIT: libbz2-dev is required for the ISO plugins to compile
When I try to build I get the following
    Code:
    oe@tower:~/pcsx2$ sh build.sh all

What kind of plugins do I need.

Also, I do run nvidia and nvidia graphics chipset/vid card ....

How do I install the Nvidia Cg-Toolkit?

Is there a potential for it to write over anything important that I have already set up?

Try this guide, it is more up-to-date. When following it just copy/paste don't try to customize unless you know what you're doing.

Thanks for the tip. I got it a little further (it compiles, I set up a bios, and I get to set up things with configure), but I still have not gotten my PS2 controller (using a ps3 usb adapter) to work yet. Unfortunately, I have run out of time this weekend to play with it further until I return from working out of town next week. If only I could take my beefy home pc with me.....sigh.

There are 32-bit and 64-bit binaries, as well as an SVN repository.
Where are the binaries? I have no plugins after compiling and hikorki just posts some useless crap when I try to get help.

You've been pointed at the SVN install instructions before, I don't see the point in doing it again when you won't bother doing what is suggested.

Re: PCSX2 0.9.3 Released for Linux!

Please please please help i am about to go insane, for the last few days i have been trying to compile and install PCSX2 on my home desktop pc.
I am using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon with a core 2 duo e6600 and an Nvidia ge-force 7600 with 2 gigs of ram.
after many failed attempts i finally got it installed and got as far as the configuration window which prompts me to assign directories for plugins and the PS2 bios. it has no problems recognising the bios but i'm stuck there, i downloaded all the relevant plugin files from the PCSX2 forum
(who incidentally are not allowing any new members on their pages, hence me bugging you guys)
and copy and pasted the different pieces to their correct locations as indicated by their README texts, but when I try to select plugins there are no plugins in the plugin fields to select from, even though i have pointed it to the correct directories. Please If anyone can shed any light it would be greatly appreciated.
