I used the tip from ComplexNumber and played around a bit. I couldn't see if anything was turning transparent so I picked a really bright color. The result was the current wallpaper. I don't know why but I kind of like it. The only change is the green bit in the middle. It used to be white. That wan't what I was going for but oh well.
GTK is onyx-red

EDIT: wow that screen shot is ugly. Sorry about the resolution. PNGs always end up too big but that is really bad.
