Strange DivX5 problem

I have a strange problem with some, *ahem* "files" on my computer.

on some files two of the colors are "offset" leaving a green stripe.

They are encoded with divX5 (divX5, ffmpeg) but display an odd green stripe when played with vlc and look even worse in movie player. the problem does not affect Xvid or even all divX5 files but the ones it does effect it does consistently. I know the files are not corrupt because multiple files have the same problem and they all work in windows.

Any ideas?

Re: Strange DivX5 problem

Hmmm. It only seems to happen durring an xgl/beryl session and not a normal gnome session.

I'm going to try asking at the beryl forums.

Re: Strange DivX5 problem

yep, having exactly the same problems with divx5. Just being new to to linux anyway, don't have a clue how to fix that problem.
Installed all the latest drivers and codecs (via automatix), and everything appears to run properly. I can play DVDs, Xvids, wma, etc, the only files presenting a problem being encoded with Divx5.
BTW, running Ubuntu 7.10, Kernel 2.6.22-14, graphics card ati X700 mobility.

Cheers,

Stella

Any further progress on this? Frustrating to say the least.

Perhaps it has something to do with the ATi proprietary driver + xgl?
