DVD Cover Art

UPDATE (2005.06.05): Read to the end of the forum. New images are occasionally added. Enjoy. -Charles

--- Original message ---
Don't you just love when AOL is nice enough to send you free clam shell DVD cases? I know I sure do. One of the best things to do with these cases is to place the original CD in the microwave for a spectacular light show and replace it with much more useful software.

I have created a clam shell DVD case cover (draft copy right now). I used Inkscape, standard Ubuntu SVG logos, and the color pallete which can be found at http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/UbuntuArtwork

I would like your opinions regarding the cover. This thread would probably be a pretty good place to post any derivative or additional works (oh, yeah, this is free to modify, distribute and blah blah blah). I would also like to create an insert for the interior of the DVD case with install instructions or something. perhaps I'll make a quick start guide with information on installation, add repositories, and adding software.

Below is a thumbnail image of the cover, which is followed by links to a full sized PNG image and the original SVG image.

Re: DVD Cover Art

I updated the image a bit by changing the background color and adding a background graphic to the back cover. A directory containing my work can be found at:

Here is an updated thumbnail:

I don't, the front looks good, the only thing I think it needs is the screen shots for the back and Breezy.

What about just the top of his head, sort of poking up from the bottom looking up at the logo?
