The Community Cafe The Community Chat area is for lighthearted and enjoyable discussions, like you might find around a water cooler at work. Almost any non-tech-support topic may be discussed here. Discussions on religion and politics are not allowed, except for politics directly related to free and open source issues. Any topic or discussion that causes problems or drama will be closed. This area is intended for fun and community building, not arguments. Please take those elsewhere. Thanks! |

Best place to download music?
I have started my music collection with Amarock and want to start downloading music. I have never used any of the music download sites. Please list your favorite.

Go for the paid sites... the ones that support the bands directly. Oh wait, they don't exist.

Re: Best place to download music?
There was a site where you could download some musics that where set for download by their creators...
The problem is that is probably not the music you're after |

Re: Best place to download music?
My favorite pay site has been www.emusic.com for many years. But I am into more independent/underground artists than current hits. There was a time when you could get an unlimited download subscription from them, but alas that is no more. I'd estimate that 20-30% of the music I have on my hard drive came from them.
After that, I would go with buying CD's directly. You can rip to the formats you want at the bitrates you want, and you won't lose them if you have a hard drive crash.
