    Pixeling Program

Hey, I'm trying to get into pixel art and I was wondering what application is best for pixeling, that is compatible with Edgy. I'm gonna try GraFX 2 with Wine, but I was wondering what you guys have used. =/

    pixeling
    pixeling? whats that?
if you're looking for a bitmap program, try gimp. personally, my needs are few and i use mtpaint due to its smaller size (gimp is too big for many things).

ahhh right, just as i suspected. its another name for working with bitmaps as opposed to vectors. never heard that term before, though.

I've seen some very nice pieces produced the "old fasioned way". Pen and ink and a whole lotta time.

No it isn't, it's building a picture up from individual pixels.

    sounds unnecessarily laborious.

I do a lot of pixelart. In Windows, I've used MS Paint for it, but now I just use The Gimp. As long as you only use the pencil tool and no airbrush, it gives you the effect you are looking for. Plus, it has layers which help.

    sounds unnecessarily laborious.
It's not as complicated as it sounds, and gives a very interesting and often beautiful effect that cannot be achieved with other methods. Here are some examples of high-quality pixel-art (not mine; I am not nearly as good at it): http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/new....asp?ob=rating

i can't really see anything unique about it.

gimp is slow to load up, so its best to use a program such as mtpaint for that. i think its a wonderful program because its fasts and full featured.
