    1. PROMISE RAID 5 Controller, PCI32/64 bit internal Card.
    2. Promise Tech.
    3. SX4000 (and many others of the same type/family)
    4. Great Raid/HDD controllers but little to no Linux support. Drivers for the SX4000 are only for Red Hat 9 and SuSE. Plus, binaries are only available on a floppy image. Most of the driver code is open source though.

    Using Ubuntu Desktop 7.10

    Toshiba A100 Satelite Pro:
Feisty: sound card doesn't work at all and the ATI graphics are a joke but are ok for 2D with all effects TURNED OFF (including rounded corners of windows) .
    there's a fix for all this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=361236&page=3

PNY Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT 256Mb X8 AGP: couldn't get hardware 3D or OpenGl in Feisty OR Windows; card was returned to supplier.

Saphire ATI Radeon X1650 pro 512Mb X8 AGP:
    Feisty:
have hardware 3d (only with propriatary driver), games/GL works etc but bad performance and Compiz... doesn't work. The new EVE-Online native Linux client does work but when I undock it crashes.
    Gutsy:
I tried I really did but had to go back to Feisty when I discovered that I had to use the default Ubuntu driver which doesn't work very well with this card because the propriatary drivers from both the repository and the AMD website kills X.

    BFG Nvidia 7600 GS 512Mb X8 AGP (factory over-clocked)
BRILLIANT. Everything works flawlessly with no more effort than clicking on the "restricted drivers" icon on the top right and enabling the Nvidia driver. I know this shouldn't technically be here But just to let people know it's not all doom and gloom, I put it in.

Sound card recognised on 6.10,but not working:no sound. Installed the newest drivers from realtek's website and alsa didn't find sound card.
    Similar problem:
CreativeLabs Soundblaster Audigy (the first one)

Worked just fine pre 7.10, now shows as installed but will not function. Until sound gets repaired, will not use Ubuntu. It was going to be my only OS until this happened, too.

Under Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) on an Acer Aspire 5100-5674 laptop:

Built-in ENE flash memory card reader (CB-712/4) gives I/O errors when copying from (but not to) 2gb SD (secure digital) cards. Mounts / unmounts / reads / writes fine with smaller SD cards.
Laptop specs: Acer Aspire 5100-5674, AMD Athlon 64 X2, 1gb RAM, 160gb SATA hard drive, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 onboard graphics, Realtek HD onboard audio, Broadcom wireless, ENE flash card reader (CB-712/4)

    1)Type Of Hardware
    Widescreen LCD monitor

    2)Hardware Maker
Samsung Monitor with ATI graphics card

    3)Hardware Model
Samsung Syncmaster 2032BW with ATI Radeon HD2400 Pro

    4)Known Issue
Widescreen modes not available. The basic Vesa display driver is selected automatically during installation but it seems not to allow widescreen. I've tried and failed to install a 'radeon' or 'fglrx' driver - they fail to start with the HD2400/2032BW combination.
