    Please Only List
    1)Type Of Hardware
    2)Hardware Maker
    3)Hardware Model
    4)Known Issue

    Graphics card
    NVidia
    GeForce FX 5200

11.04, default mode. Do not show top menu bar. Right mouse button shows option box for nanosecond, then disappear. All other boxes are flashing ON/OFF constantly, for example network connection notice in start up. Mouse works, keyboard does not.

Works perfectly in Ubuntu Classic mode. Reinstallation of NVidia drivers does not help.

    Motherboard: ASRock H67M + Intel i5
    CD/DVD drive: ASUS DRW-24B3ST

The CD/DVD drive is not found in Ubuntu 10.10 or Ubuntu 11.04.
However, it is detected correctly in Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS.

    DVD+/-RW Drive
    Toshiba Samsung Storage Technologies
    TSST TS-H522B, firmware rev. TS12
    Ubuntu 10.10

Drive recognized erratically or not at all. Disk Utility sometimes lists this as a standard hard drive (/dev/sdb), sometimes as a CD-ROM, sometimes as something else altogether (e.g., a USB mouse). Occasionally, it will even appear as a DVD-RW drive.

When the drive is recognized correctly, it works with all the relevant applications (e.g., Brasero, VLC, etc.)

The drive does allow booting with the Ubuntu 10.10 Live CD, other Linux flavors (e.g., Damn Small Linux), and Windows 2000. It will not boot with Kubuntu 10.04 or Ubuntu 8.04.

    Motherboard
    AsusTeK Technologies Ltd.
Asus A7A266, Socket A, ALi M1647 chipset, AGP Pro 4X (w/o onboard sound)
    Ubuntu 10.10

Hardware sensors (fans, temps, voltages) do not work in GNOME. I have not verified whether they work at the console. This may have been caused by a recent update of the lmsensors package; the sensors were known to work in Ubuntu 10.04. IIRC, they worked earlier in 10.10.

Arrow Desktop Hardware Incompatibility - Coby TFT1524

    TYPE: 15.4" Monitor/HDTV
MANUFACTURER: Coby / Coby Electronics Co., Ltd (USA/Canada)
    MODEL: TFT1524

In Ubuntu 11.04: Mis-reports the 15.4 inch screen size as 26", which does not give a proper resolution and aspect ratio, when on Ubuntu 11.04. Things look too skinny, or too wide... No middle ground.

In Ubuntu10.04 and below: Simply does not display Ubuntu after the splash screen. Therefore, you will not be able to log onto the Computer to use Ubuntu 10.04 and under.

Mount Manager identify that is something, but does not mount, even, dinamically.

Runing Ubuntu 11.04 on a VMware Fusion Machine, under MAC OS X 10.6.7

On Pure windows machine the driver is ok, and on a Windows XP Virtual machine is ok also.

1)Type Of Hardware - Hard Drive,
    2)Hardware Maker - Seagate
    3)Hardware Model - Barracuda 7200.12 (500GB)
4)Known Issue - SATA II 3GB / Sec setting of hard drive leads to hard drive not being recognized in the BIOS of slightly older motherboards that were produced before support for SATA II was included.

    My specific cases - Abit motherboards KV8-Pro & KV-85.

For these Seagate drives installing a jumper on the two pins furthest away from the SATA data connector reduces drive to 1.5GB / Sec and permits the hard drive to be seen in the BIOS and thus the operating system.

Check with the manufacturer of your hard drive and properly determine the correct jumper setting for your specific hard drive to reduce it to 1.5GB / Sec..

Not specific to Ubuntu but may still be helpful to many Ubuntu users that find that their hard drive is not recognized in the BIOS or operating system - either connected via SATA directly to the motherboard or via USB as an external - as it 'may' be the cause.

This issue may also be present on other hard drives from the same manufacturer, as well as other manufacturers, as it results from using hard drives that have a default data transfer setting of 3GB / Sec. which exceeds what is supported on specific older motherboards - yet has a jumper setting that permits hardware recognition through the addition of a jumper thus providing backward-compatibility to the older motherboards that only recognize the original SATA specification of 1.5GB / Sec.
