    Dictionary like Wordweb

    Hi,

Is there a dictionary software for linux like Wordweb, Oxford or other dict softs available for *******. Connecting to dictionary sites can be slow and tedious if one has a friggin dial-up connection. So any suggestions?
    Thanks

I use Wordweb in WINE. It works great (you need to run wwnotray.exe or sth like that). It's not open software though.

Check out Artha. I love it as I used to be an ardent fan of Wordweb.

Yes, I like Artha also and I was a big user of Wordweb. Artha is a cool Dictionary tool.

I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell D620 laptop.

All you have to do is select a word in any app or anywhere on your screen and hit the hot key (and I think that is customizable) Ctrl-Alt-W and Artha dictionary comes up.

If you have used Wordweb, you will like this tool as well.

    Whaaa Hooo for Artha!

I got one better than Wordweb, its called Stardict and its in repos, you can download individual dictionaries form their site and install them as well. Also if you have way WyabdcRealPeopleTTS in /usr/share, you will get pronounciation as well. Stardict is even more intuitive and feature filled than WordWeb.
