Sorry; some of the software your referencing is unfamiliar to me. I imagine you're not using Ubuntu, but some derivative such as Kubuntu.
These instructions are specifically for Ubuntu. I'm sorry if they don't meet your needs. While I have enjoyed the K Desktop Environment in the past, its similarity to Windows tends to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Therefore I avoid it if I can.
Thank you for noting that "KPackageKit" and "Adept" fail to add repository DVDs to the list of available packages. And as you stated apt-cdrom at the command prompt does to the trick, proving once again the power of the Linux command line. I'll make a note of that in my tutorial.
