[SOLVED] ^ in matlab/maple
When using maple/matlab I'm unable to type a ^ character. I'm using a norwegian keyboard. Generic 104-key PC layout
Does anyone have the same problem? (or a solution) |

Re: ^ in matlab/maple
Same problem here, I haven't found a solution yet. Copy/pasting is the best work-around, apart from defining functions.
When pressing ^ followed by 2, it enters a little superscript 2, which is not recognized by the application. When pressing ^ twice, nothing happens. |

Re: ^ in matlab/maple
Go to "System/Preference/Keyboard". Then "Layouts". Then add a new layout "Denmark Eliminate dead keys", enable it and move it to the top. Worked for me in Matlab and Maple.

Re: ^ in matlab/maple
Thanks!
Guess it's not an optimal solution for people that have to use those characters with ¨ over them though |

Re: [SOLVED] ^ in matlab/maple
The best option is to set your layout as Default, then add the keyboard of your preference to the keyboard layouts (U.S. English for example where the symbol '^' is Shift+6), and then activate the Keyboard Indicator Applet.
When in Matlab, just click the Keyboard indicator applet and ... voila! To get instructions on how to add the applet read the help provided by ubuntu. |
