The last time I checked, Ubiquity had some bugs. It's written in Python... so get to it!
If you can't replicate those bugs, I think a music player would be a good project to get involved with - Exaile, Listen, Quod Libet, or one of those others would probably appreciate some new features.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
