After upgrade to 11.10 version of Ubuntu my scanner on samsung SCX-4521F doesn't work. I have used gscan2pdf program for scnnning of documents in pdf format and now shows message ''No device found''. Also I can not use printer.
Please help.
Same problem. After upgrade to 11.10 version of Xubuntu scanner on Samsung SCX-4100 doesn't work. Simple Scan shows message ''No device found''. Printer work fine at same time.
P.S. Sorry for my english.
I have a similar problem with this same device. My Samsung SCX-4521F multifunction printer was working perfectly under Ubuntu and Lubuntu 11.04, but now, after upgrading (on both machines) to Lubuntu 11.10, the scanner doesn't work anymore: Simple Scan and gscan2pdf report "No device found". (The printer, on the other hand, didn't stop working).
I have followed the troubleshooting on tweedledee's website, but none of the suggestions helped.
The sane-find-scanner command seems to recognize the device, as it reports:
I have no clue why the upgrade should have broken what was working perfectly...Code:# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer. # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter. found USB scanner (vendor=0x04e8 [Samsung], product=0x3419 [SCX-4x21 Series]) at libusb:002:002 found USB scanner (vendor=0x0402, product=0x5602) at libusb:001:004 # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. I hope somebody can help.

Hello. I've run into the problem with SCX-3200 myself and that's how it has just been solved:
I've manually added my device to the list of supported:
After that it worked. Here you can find additional info: http://www.sane-project.org/man/sane-xerox_mfp.5.html.Code:echo "usb 0x04e8 0x3441" >> /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf
P. S.
Lots of thanks to tweedledee for packaging all the stuff.
Just for information regarding Ubuntu 11.10.
I have spent some time testing my Samsung scx-4500w wireless mfp with ubuntu 11.10
I always do a clean install rather than update and a clean install after each test.
Both Unified Driver driver packages (3.00.65 and 3.00.90) downloaded from samsung, installed and worked perfectly - scanning and printing as normal.
Then enabled the repository and installed necessary drivers - again both printing and scanning work as normal.
I can scan from libreoffice, picasa, simple scan and xsane.
Hi,
I did it! Thanks all for the help.
I installed,
samsungmfp-data, samsungmf--configurator-data, samsungmfdriver, samsungmfp-scanner from http://ww.bchemnet.com/suldr debian extra.
Also, my user is in the lp and saned groups. After starting the CLX-2160, responce to the lsusb is:
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 04e8:3425 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd
and for
sane-find-scanner
I got:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x0ac8, product=0x303b) at libusb:002:003
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04e8 [Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.], product=0x3425 [CLX-216x Series]) at libusb:001:007
Inserting vendor and product numbers for CLX-2160 listed above into
/ect/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf
I was able to scan.
Many thanks for all those helpers.
Bast Regards
Thank you for the suggestion, but unfortunately this didn't work, in my case, as Simple Scan, scanimage -L and gscan2pdf still report finding no device.
Also, a clean install instead of an upgrade makes no difference in my case, as I have tried with both. (And I am part of the mentioned lp, lpadmin, saned and scanner groups).
I hope somebody has a clue. It had been working fine before the upgrade.
