I have been approached by a few people regarding the status of the Connecticut LoCo Group.
At this stage, I don't have the time necessary to lead it. I have never fully understood what it would take or how to go about running it when I started it.
At the same time, it's mission and purpose is still vallant; spreading the works of Ubuntu and supporting the users locally.
For that reason, I am requesting somebody or multiple people to come forward and take the reigns. This is a good opportunity to not only give back to the Ubuntu Community but to build up your own personal experience and resume.
So all people interested in taking over this LoCo group, please post so here. In a week or two we can collect the names of all intersted parties and I will put up a poll to vote for whomever you want.
I apologize for this taking so long, and it should have been done a long time ago. I hope that under new leadership that this can grow to a vibrant and active group which I too can participate when time avails itself.

Responsibilities? Have fun!
This is one of those things that got me, was that there was no clear-cut outline of what it entails, so a lot of it is up to you.
We had one person work hard getting a booth manned at the Cogan computer fairs. Somebody else helped out with setting up an IRC channel.
To facillitate this there are a number of tools available and I'll work with whomever to determine how to handle the hand-off, or can stay involved as a backup at the leader's choice.
- well.. these forums
- wiki page(s)
- our own mailing list
- Launchpad group
- an IRC channel (FreeNode IRC Channel;#ubuntu-connecticut)
- Google Group (which is, of course, optional)
Some benefits should include
- Getting your name listed in the official Ubuntu Wikis
- An angling point for becoming an Ubuntu member (at least, more than just hanging out in these forums)
- possibility to get CDs shipped
- Looks great on a resume (leadership opportunity)
- the love and respect of fellow Ubuntu members!

Some ideas from the ConnecticutTeam Wiki page :
- Demonstration at a computer club
- Adult Education Classes (and pass out free, professional looking Ubuntu CDs!)
- Participating in a computer club's meetings (even non-Linux groups as an informational talk)
- Demonstrating to a school, nursery, preschool, etc. the benefits of Edubuntu
- Install-fests
- Hand out CDs at trade shows and flea markets
- Blogging

I am from Newington. Not interested in leading the group, as I work two-jobs, I'm taking 15 credits of college classes, and I'm already a board member in my flying club. But I just thought I would reply with some interest in what's new.
Is there a rough idea of how many hours per week?
