Sammi,
A real man would compile it from source.
I honestly don't know, if I come across any program that doesn't have an official Ubuntu deb in the repos, I compile from source.
The difference is not in game features, those are present only in different versions, not in different ways to install the same thing. The only thing is that debs save you a lot of time, manage your dependancies, and make it easier to upgrade or uninstall the game. I think that's pretty much it...
I'm a puppet!
I just want to point out that the Edgy debs for version 1.2.1 are out on getdeb!
Have fun!
That's good, since I managed to get throttled by one of the Ubuntu devs for suggesting this
No, seriously, he just pointed out that although Debian and Edgy is binary compatible, Feisty is probably going to break that, since Feisty uses a newer version of some library or other...
So while this trick works for now, beware that it might not do so always. And don't use it for anything critical
That's why we have howto compile wesnoth on Ubuntu Gaming Arena

Then no worry about compatiblity or package hacking.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll keep that in mind.
So, that means that even though I'm gonna download something for Feisty from getdeb, will that not work?
Some other dependencies I discovered, though it's for the 1.1....reverted+something version:
I think this is why my Wesnoth installation keeps crashing upon my just opening it...Code:xfs ttf-sazanami-gothic
EDIT: Nope, it still crashes upon double-clicking the menu icon. I uninstalled it first, and I guess I should get the newest version. Things is, I wonder if it'll work for Dapper.
