Things have been going good till as of recent. On that comp with Ubuntu 8.04LTS doing what we said the internet now keeps disconnecting by itself. Once you reconnect it is fine. Average internet use about 12-16 hrs a day (taking lots of practice tests). Any ideas?

    THANKS!!!!!

When was the last time you rebooted your router? If it's been a while, please reboot the router and see if that improves things.

Ok will try that again. This only happens on the comp with the WPC card in it. My other comp running of the same comp has no problems. If using bit torrents could a high download speed block out other comps?

Re: Howto: Linksys ACX111 chipset (wpc54g v2) via ndiswrapper

I'm trying to get my wpc54g working with Lucid Lynx on an old Compaq Armada laptop. I tried the steps at the beginning of the thread, but it didn't work. Once I got to the point of loading the driver into ndiswrapper, I just got a prompt with no response indicating that anything was happening.

    Anyone have any insights?

    Thanks!

Just a quick note that I tried this procedure as written on lucid, and it appears to work OK. This was on a system that was upgraded from hardy. I added the following steps to remove the old drivers before installing the new drivers with sudo ndiswrapper -i ...:
    Code:
    sudo ndiswrapper -l
    sudo ndiswrapper -r lsbcmds
    sudo ndiswrapper -r lstinds
I also noticed that when I ran modprobe, I received the following warning messages on four files in /etc/modprobe.d: WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/...; it will be ignored in a future release.

Cisco changed the location of their drivers for this card. It can now be downloaded at http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downl...lity_v2.02.zip.

Thanks for the update. I will change the URL in the tutorial once I get home.
