As of Nov 16 2007, the owner of the MMORPG "Saga of Ryzom" GameForge declared bankruptcy and according to this the Initiative to make Ryzom available to the public under the GPL has resumed its activities in this regard. There is no information from the liquidator about the details of a possible auction yet as he is still collecting what the assets exactly are.
Maybe the prospects for the open source community are better this time. Having a capable game engine opensourced could be a good move, especially with respect to a possible (and feasible) port of the client to linux.
oh, here we go again...
i really hope we'll free it this time, but it seems the foss collective economy cant beat the big companies economic assets.
