Convert .xcf to .jpg or other?

    Hi,

I'm just beginning to learn how to The Gimp and I want to convert an image.xcf to .jpg or other format.

If anybody can help I'd be most grateful.

I nearly certain that The Gimp saves the file based on the extension you give to the filename, so if you have a file called test1.xcf and you save it as test1.jpg it will automatically convert it to a jpg.

No problem, xyz. It is simple but maybe not so obvious, the reason I know is because I had to ask the same question at one time.

Is there some way to export to .jpg? I have a multi-layer .xcf, and so far the only way I know to make a .jpg is to flatten all the layers and save as .jpg. I'd prefer to just push one button and have gimp flatten all my layers and convert to .jpg for me.

Save as filename.jpg and gimp should ask whether to flatten it or not

There is also a great "Save for Web" plug-in for Gimp (similar to PhotoShop's Save for Web). It allows you to preview different compression options.
    It's not a "Bug", it's a "Feature"...

    Best is Terminal

    convert abc.jpg abc.pdf

convert abc.xcf abc.jpg (You have to be in the place were the file is )

    File, Save a copy.
Type the name you want to save it as, ending with .jpg . You can see all the other formats the GIMP supports by expanding Select File Type, just above the Save button. Click Save. If it gives you any warnings, just click Export. Then click Save in the export dialog. It's easy really.
