Runs flawlessly on my box, allows you to play movies (using mplayer backend) in xmms, makes it very easy to make playlists and such without using the (imo) clumsy mplayer gui.

Not really a request on my behalf, but it's good software and more people should know about it

different project, that one I tried first and it was unstable and left rogue mplayer processes, the last one works flawlessly.

xmmsmplayer also works correctly for me while xmmplayer just freezes xmms.
