When I log into a XGL session (created as per all the tutorials) I have some problems even before I start beryl.
The first thing I notice is that when I open any panel app a red border slowly comes up from where I clicked the app and then the app opens. I really dislike this red border and am wondering if there is a way to get rid of it. It has nothing to do with Beryl because I haven't even started Beryl when I first see it.
The next problem, and this one is much more serious, is that if I open any app that I want to enter some text in, be it a terminal or to post on this forum, there is a delay of about 20 seconds from when I type and when the text appears on the screen. I looked in system monitor and found that XGL is hogging almost the entire cpu. This makes my system basically unusable with XGL.
This is my fglrxinfo when in a normal Gnome session:
Code:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: MOBILITY/RADEON 9000 DDR Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.1091 (X4.3.0-8.28.8)
and this is my fglrxinfo when in an XGL session:
Code:
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display "localhost:1.0".
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: MOBILITY/RADEON 9000 DDR Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.1091 (X4.3.0-8.28.8)
Any hints to help get XGL working better so that I can enjoy Beryl?
I have tried to get Beryl working with AIGLX but when I use the radeon or ati drivers I don't have direct rendering....
