    it doesn't matter.
    Knowledge is half the battle.
    The other half is violence!

so i did all this, and it seemed to work perfectly, except when i select the xgl session from the list and login, the screen goes blank for a second and brings me right back to the login prompt.
ive got the radeon mobility x1600, it was in teh list of cards that supposedly work, and i dont have the mesa or anything in the fglrxinfo.

    Code:
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 Generic
    OpenGL version string: 2.0.6011 (8.28.8)

Re: Howto: ATI Mobility Beryl/XGL FGLRX in Edgy

I am having HUGE issues getting 3d acceleration working. Any kind of help would
    be highly appreciated.
To make a long story short (as short as possible at least), this is what I've do
    ne:
I managed to get 3D acceleration going after installing Ubuntu. Then I built my
own kernel and tried to get it working again. For various reasons, I reverted to
the stock kernel, and found out 3D acceleration was no longer working.
After messing around with it for hours, following numerous guides, it finally st
    arted working.
Then, the next day, it didn't work anymore. I hadn't even rebooted the system. N
ow I've done too many things to figure out where the problem is, and I really ne
    ed help.

The last thing I did was follow the howto in this thread, after removing various
packages I figured could be messing things up.

As of now, fglrxinfo gives me:
    Code:
