Re: Howto: ATI Mobility Beryl/XGL FGLRX in Edgy

i figured "y", can always return to .11 later

anyway, now when i get to editing the xorg.conf file
Add this to the end of xorg.conf ("$ sudo gedit /etx/X11/xorg.conf" to edit it):
    Code:

Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "0" EndSection
it opens xorg.conf fine, but the file is blank and when i save it, it tells me the file cannot be found

EDIT: turns out it should be etC/X11/yaddayaddayadda, not etX.

alright, i got it all working... beryl's installed, i can open the manager... but how do i make it use beryl instead of metacity? when i right-click the ruby and select window manager -> beryl, it just goes right back to metacity.

ah, there is something crashing. Right click the ruby and click Quit, then open a terminal and run "beryl-manager". This will run the ruby in the terminal. Then right click and select window manager -> beryl. Then once it blinks, copy the terminals output here.

When you are logging in, click Session and choose XGL, then try again.

Re: Howto: ATI Mobility Beryl/XGL FGLRX in Edgy

rebooted, now when i start it up it all works, but when i switch the window manager to beryl, everything freezes.

EDIT: im able to post here through my laptop, even though the desktop w/Ubuntu isnt working out right now, in case you were wondering

EDIT 2: rebooted again, now nothing loads other than the cursor after i login an xgl session (cursor still moves, btw, but panels, desktop background, etc. are all gone)
