    Java Rte

Erm i have follwed the unoffcical guide to ubuntu and as expected as was as rough as a badgers ****, however there were some usefull bits and some bits that didnt work, one such thing that i /really/ need to work is java and the run time environment.

How can i install the J2RE. Please don't redirect me to the Ubuntu unoffical guide been there and it dont work for me. I have to change the file to 1.4.2 before i even get close. After apt-get install sun-j2re1.4.2 im told something depends on it but sun* cannot be found. Why is this? Surly if i have something depending on the rte it should be installed?

I will specifically need the firefox java plug-in as well. Even a manual install didn't quite work

What went wrong when you tried the instructions from ubuntuguide.org?

Sorry this thread can be deleted now, i used the instruction on Sun's website unless you want me to recreate the problem so the guide can be upgraded?
