    DejaVu Sans = 8, 8, 8, 8 BOLD, and 9 for Mono

It's on a laptop, so I like to keep things small.

Re: What fonts do you use?

    Application font: Tahoma
    Document font: Trebuchet MS
    Desktop font: Trebushet MS
    Window title font: Lucida Grande
Fixed width font: DejaVu Sans Mono

BTW, has anyone noticed that the majority of formatting options for posts in this forum are with Microsoft Fonts?

I'm surprised there's not been a "purist outcry" (personally I don't care myself).

I use the default font in ubuntu (sans) but together with ms font fix so I get sharp fonts.
Sorry to say, but I think that the default font rendering is blurry in linux based systems.

Re: What fonts do you use?

I apologise for digging up this thread, but I was about to start a topic with the same question, and recycling is better for the environment as you all know.
I'm looking for free fonts and the problem is that on every font website there are thousands of fonts, of which 99% percent are butt-ugly. I'm looking for a serif font for use in text (so it has to be readable on screen and printed) and to make things extra difficult, I only want fonts that have lower-case numbers (for en example, see this Wikipedia article on the right). I have been using a pirated version of the DTL Elzevir font, but that doesn't work well with OpenOffice.org (kerning seems of and diacritics are not rendered correctly when exporting to pdf) and isn't free. Does anyone have good suggestions?

My advice is to get the Liberation font set that Redhat came up with - they are amazingly clear - there is a sans, serif, and mono font.

I now use Liberation for everything -- they are amazing.
