    what am I mistaking, please help ..?

    conky is running with no errors

    now, I know it is about all "${voffset} I did, so conky window is actualy larger... can I limit it's dimensions ?
    you can set a minimum size for your conky by using the command

    Code:
    minimum_size x y
    substitute x & y for the dimensions required,

    unfortunately you can only set a maximum size for the width

    Code:
    maximum_width x
    again substitute x for the desired value

    there is no command for
    Code:
    maximum_height
    I'll never drink water again....Fish poo in it!

    No, sorry. The answer is -->> move the icon

    I have one conky using:
    Code:
    minimum_size 200 0
    that 0 represents a minimum height of 0 pixels and I see the entire conky.

    Now if conky had a maximum_size command - but it doesn't.

    WAIT! Moving your icon isn't the ONLY solution!

    See, Conky draws a window big enough for all your lines of text, even if you use a negative $voffset to squish them all up. In that case, you are left with a bunch of empty space at the bottom that you can't get rid of (which is what's happening to you).

    Before you resign yourself to moving your icon, see if you can't condense some of your code onto fewer lines...for instance, all of your weather, including windspeed, etc. can be condensed into a single template, which will save you probably 10 lines.

    use the
    Code:
    maximum_width x
    function before the TEXT line in your conky file,

    experiment with different values of x until you get what you need

    See the command in red in your file

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    hello,
    after upgrading to karmic, it seems like the calendar script in my conky doesn't work well. could you help me what I should change in my files?
    The problem is that the whole conky becomes too wide. If I remove the calendar part it'll be fine.
    Thx in advance

    Hi inigo48,

    why so complicated?
    Please go to this line, which does the same as your script:
    Code:
    ${execpi 60 DJS=`date +%_d`; cal | sed '/./!d' | sed 's/$/                     /' | fold -w 21 | sed -n '/^.\{21\}/p' | sed 's/^/${alignc} /' | sed /" $DJS "/s/" $DJS "/" "'${color orange}'"$DJS"'${color}'" "/}
    Add it to the body of your script in the .conkyrc

    See, Conky draws a window big enough for all your lines of text, even if you use a negative $voffset to squish them all up. In that case, you are left with a bunch of empty space at the bottom that you can't get rid of (which is what's happening to you).

    Before you resign yourself to moving your icon, see if you can't condense some of your code onto fewer lines...for instance, all of your weather, including windspeed, etc. can be condensed into a single template, which will save you probably 10 lines.
    So that's why my conky window was taking up half my screen to display 5 lines. Damn voffsets

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Hi all,
    Thought I'd post a simple script to display the horizontal calendar.

    This one should not have the bug like the last one which made the calendar go crazy on the 8th of every month.
    Also (especially) for Bruce, the calendar would remain the same width every month even without displaying any dates of the coming month.

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    #minimalistic horizontal caalendar for conky by ans.

    TOP=`cal|head -n 2| tail -n 1`
    LINE1=`cal|head -n 3| tail -n 1`
    LINE2=`cal|head -n 4| tail -n 1`
    LINE3=`cal|head -n 5| tail -n 1`
    LINE4=`cal|head -n 6| tail -n 1`
    LINE5=`cal|head -n 7| tail -n 1`

    echo $TOP $TOP $TOP $TOP $TOP
    echo " $LINE1 $LINE2 $LINE3 $LINE4 $LINE5"

    TODAY=`date +%d`
    FIRSTDAY=`date -d "-1 month -$(($(date +%d)-1)) days +1 month" +%u`
    if [ $FIRSTDAY -eq 7 ]
    then
    	FIRSTDAY=1
    fi
    POSIT=`echo "($TODAY + $FIRSTDAY)*17"|bc`
    echo "\${voffset -14}\${goto $POSIT}\${color skyblue} [  ]"
    exit 0
    I had the sudden urge to go minimalistic so almost no colors. But it would be easy to add using sed

    BTW the number in red should be different for different combinations of font size and DPI settings. I felt too lazy to try and figure out how to make it dynamic, but if somebody needs it then i'll give it a go.
