This thumbnail is by far the nicest conky set up I have seen. You mentioned that you used kaivalagi's scripts but I've read the last 25-30 pages of this thread and I find no reference to those scripts. Could you post the 4 conky scripts you are using?

Also, stupid question, but conky works fine on Gnome, KDE, and xfce right?

That IS strange, I have never see that before.

Can you post your sources.list file please.

Failing that, you can install the deb file from the script thread. There is one downside though, you will no get updates....so you'd need to keep an eye out for updates on the thread

Interesting article about a comand called dmidecode with multiple conky applications.

The DMI table doesn't only describe what the system is currently made of, it also can report the possible evolutions (such as the fastest supported CPU or the maximal amount of memory supported).

SMBIOS stands for System Management BIOS , while DMI stands for Desktop Management Interface. Both standards are tightly related and developed by the DMTF (Desktop Management Task Force).

Basiclly, it allows you to pull TONS of information from your SMBIOS... (including things like Motherboard make and model.)

ok... a few overhauls and a bit of settling now i think my conky may stay tame for a few weeks or so.

top left corner is the deluge script
bottom left is my network activity
bottom right is misc. computer info
top right changes between pidgin, weather, and music player info

Alright guys - Here is my services file. Did I put the extra line (for conky rythymbox) in the right place? I have tried it in the current spot and at the very bottom and both times have failed.

You have it commented out!

A hash character (#) is used for commenting out code/settings, anything after it is ignored functionally...

change this:

# deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu intrepid main

to this:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu intrepid main

and it's probably is better to put at the very bottom, after all the ubuntu based repositories.


I did previously say (note that there is no # character):

then add this line to the bottom of the file and save:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/m-buck/ubuntu intrepid main

You probably won't make that mistake again

dont forget to run sudo chmod u+s /usr/sbin/dmidecode so that dmidecode won't need sudo.
