DerangedDingo, thanks. In the end I was just stupid and needed one more thing from synaptic. My only quarl now is that the time at the bottom updates only once every twenty seconds and the track doesn't change right away. If that can be fixed could someone help? If no I'll live.

Sorry... i don't even have XMMS installed... that's why I couldn't explain anything

I have a question of my own

    Does "mem" translate to RAM?
As in the memory variables and whatnot, do they keep track of RAM? or is MEM some cocktail of the different cache's on the motherboard?

Mem is RAM. So membar would just show how much RAM is in use etc.

But the membar shows a different value than "cache"

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    My conky has:
    • Date and Time
    • CPU, RAM, and SWAP usage
    • Top Processes
    • Partition Usage
    • Network Up/Down Speed
    • Amarok "Now Playing" Info

and it works perfectly in KDE/Beryl.

If you use my .conkyrc, you'll have to adjust a couple things (such as the partition names), but most of it should work fine. If you download the scripts, rename "amarak.txt" to "amarok" and ".conkyrc.txt" to "conkyrc." Also, if you want to use the Amarok "Now Playing" feature, you'll have to copy the amarok script into ~/.conky/.

PurposeOfReason, in your .conkeyrc, there should be an execi command that fetches XMMS info. exec(i) commands have an interval, which, in your case, might be '20'. Change that to 1 and you'll be set! It might eat RAM though

Hey guys, i have a conky question and i figured since there were so many users in this thread that i would throw it out there. My conky is set-up and working fine. It doesnt blink, and i can get it to show on all workspaces, but whenever i click on the icon to "show desktop" (bottom left corner default) conky disappears. Is there anything i can add to my .conkyrc file that will alow conky to always be on top, or something of that nature?

Can you post your conky file? Or check to see if you have own_window yes.

It was the execi command. Even at one it's not using any RAM.

Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Add this.

    Code:
    own_window_type override
    after this

    Code:
    # Create own window instead of using desktop (required in nautilus)
    own_window yes
    own_window_hints undecorated,below,skip_taskbar
    background no
only if you're anal about everything being organized. It can go anywhere in the top.
