    Hey Petro Dawg,
    Can you show the script your using for the Exec command and how it works.

    Code:
    [Desktop Action Main]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyMain.command --main
    Name=Main

    I did in the previous post, however I mistakenly called it Conkymain.command instead of ConkyMain.command, its fixed now in the original post.

    Ahh it's ok.
    i thought "--main" was part of the command but it's just a comment.

    WOW, there be a lot of Conkys in that script.

    I went with a simple start/kill script like this for each of my three (yes... 3) Conkys...

    ConkyMain.command
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    if pgrep -f "conky -c /home/greg/.conky/Main/conkyrc"
    then
        pkill -xf "conky -c /home/greg/.conky/Main/conkyrc"
    else
        conky -c ~/.conky/Main/conkyrc
    fi
    as well as a script to start them all...

    Conky.command
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    conky -c ~/.conky/Main/conkyrc &
    conky -c ~/.conky/Main/conkyemailrc &
    conky -c ~/.conky/Main/conkycalrc &
    and a script to kill them all...

    ConkyKill.command
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    killall conky
    and a script to open my Conky config files...

    ConkyEdit.command
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    gedit ~/.conky/Main/conkyrc &
    gedit ~/.conky/Main/conkycalrc &
    gedit ~/.conky/Main/conkyemailrc &
    All these scripts are pulled together using a desktop file saved in my ~/.local/share/applications folder like so...

    Conky.desktop
    Code:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Encoding=UTF-8
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/Conky.command
    Icon=conky
    Type=Application
    Terminal=false
    Name=Conky
    GenericName=Conky
    StartupNotify=false
    Categories=system
    Actions=Main;E-Mail;Calendar;Edit;KillAll;

    [Desktop Action Main]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyMain.command --main
    Name=Main

    [Desktop Action E-Mail]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyMail.command --e-mail
    Name=E-Mail

    [Desktop Action Calendar]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyCalendar.command --calendar
    Name=Calendar

    [Desktop Action Edit]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyEdit.command --edit
    Name=Edit Conky Files

    [Desktop Action KillAll]
    Exec=/home/greg/.conky/Main/ConkyKill.command --killall
    Name=Killall

    Just in case anyone out there wants to know how it's done.
    Thank you very much Petro Dawg, this is awesome
    I have been playing a bit more with conky, it's really wonderful

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    Ok, I have one other question if it's not too much to ask

    I now have 2 isntances of conky, a small one that autostarts and another one that I start when I need with more info.
    Here is a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/ROJCrNw.png

    Issues / questions:
    1. The text keeps going down from left to right, I am not sure what is pushing text down as it goes
    2. conky reserves some space below the menu panel making it impossible to pull windows up to the unity menu panel as usual (see space between panel and sublime editor)
    3. can I make the down / up speed graph into one single graph with 2 colors? I looked for this but could not find any useful examples

    I include my connkyrc here
    Code:

    Re: Post your .conkyrc files w/ screenshots

    I would recommend something like...

    Code:
    ${voffset -2}
    before the text you wish to move up a bit. You may need to play with the value to get it right, and may need to place several in the code to get everything aligned.

    The code above will vertically offset any following text by 2 pixels upward (a positive value will move text downward). Its handy when mixing fonts or having graphs inline with text.

    The reserved space issue is due to your own_window_type = panel, you might try setting this to normal or override to get rid of the reserved space. Otherwise you might just place a large voffset variable (like -25 or so) at the end of the code to pull up any empty space that follows.

    Let us know it any of that works for you or not.

    Thank you very much!
    I had to place various voffset, it didn't occur to me that I could use many inline just before and after depending where it was needed, thank you!

    As for the reserved space underneath I had to use voffset again. Any window_type other than panel would not allow conky to sit on top of unity menu panel.

    OOOPPS one more issue!
    the hot corners on top don't work anymore.

    Don't know much about "hot corners" and this may not have any impact, but try aligning your Conky to top_middle instead of top_right. You'll also have to adjust your gap_x value to get the Conky repositioned correctly.

    Thank you Petro Dawg, can I invite you for something? a drink? Tea? Coffee? Beer? if you have a donate button somewhere, let me know!

    All working great for now, I will consider further refinements in the future!
